Laura Di Santo
Laura has experienced and enjoyed rural living, hiking and camping in western North America, and a variety of urban settings. Very early in her life, she developed a deep appreciation for the sights, sounds, and fragrances of natural settings. Her early interest in art focused on representing aspects of nature in paintings.
Laura investigates the natural links between the art forms of poetry and representational painting. She explores nature, urban scenes, and still life, mainly through the use of non-local colour, intensifying the lyrical qualities of expressive realism.
In addition to the excellent mentorship received from Myrna Johns, Laura has taken courses and workshops taught by well known artists in Calgary, covering watercolour, water-based media, and oil. She appreciates the interactive and energetic environment that develops through participation as a member of SAAA.
