Myrna Haglund
Myrna's art is a place in time. When she is at her cabin in Central Alberta she paints landscapes and wildlife. She has a passion and great respect for painting bison from the many bison farms surrounding her retreat. It is a much treasured opportunity to be out on the land that was once homesteaded and full of stories from the past. This has lead to opportunities to demonstrate painting bison at the Calgary Stampede and a chance to meet other western artists. When back in her urban environment she is painting the urban scene and the people that make it what it is. Myrna has had many travel opportunities, all of which allow her to return with photos and sketches and time to recapture those special moments in her studio.
Having grown up on the west coast, Myrna is captivated by the big blue skies of Calgary which she calls home. She attended Portland State University majoring in art and continued her art studies at the Alberta College of Art and Design. She has been fortunate to have had wonderfully encouraging mentors along the way for which she is very grateful.
